In Tallinn’s valued Nõmme district, which is drowning in greenery, in the Pääsküla suburb, near Vabaduse Avenue, at 40 Vikerkaare Street, a truly special home awaits the new family. This well-maintained and dignified house, built in 1961, hides 249 m² of living space, seven spacious rooms and a private plot of almost 900 m².

The plot is currently divided into two by a mesh fence, with a separate pedestrian gate – like a small secret garden on all sides. The house has two floors and thanks to its two separately furnished living spaces, it is perfect for two generations or two households. Although the entrance is shared, the rooms are so cleverly designed that privacy is ensured – with separate stairs, doors and corridors, just like in a small apartment building.

Ground floor

Upon entering the house, you will be greeted by living on the ground floor with renovations. The windows and doors are still original, but the rooms have a warm and homely atmosphere. Here you will find a corridor, a practical kitchen with a large storage room, a living room, two bedrooms and a veranda with a balcony. The kitchen has everything you need: stove, oven, hood, dishwasher and sink. The stove with a heat wall gives the rooms a historical feel – although the current owners have not used it.

The floors mix old and new – laminate in the hallway, kitchen and one bedroom, but elsewhere there is also real wooden parquet. In the living room and porch room, wooden ceilings add coziness.

Second floor

On the second floor, a spacious and bright open kitchen-dining room awaits you, from where a hatch leads to the attic. The kitchen has all the modern comforts, as well as wide window sills, which seem to be made for dreaming – you can sit there with a cup of tea in your hand, watching the dance of colourful leaves in autumn or the first snowfalls in winter.

There is also a large bathroom on the floor with underfloor heating, a jacuzzi hydromassage bathtub and a large window with a soothing view of the greenery. In addition, there is a wardrobe with a storage room, a large living room with a small fireplace, a bedroom and a room under a gable roof, which is ideal for a home office or a cozy reading room. It is from this room that you can access the balcony, which offers a wonderful view of the surrounding greenery. On the second floor, all the windows have already been replaced – with aluminum-wooden frames.

Courtyard and sauna house

A real gem rises in the large yard area – a garage-sauna house with two entrances and room for as many as four cars. But the warm soul of the sauna house captures the heart the most. There is a spacious anteroom with a cozy fireplace with a new fireplace hatch newly installed, polished floorboards and lacquered wooden walls and ceilings. A really nice place to spend winter evenings with friends or family. A new boiler awaits in the sauna washroom, as well as fresh boards in the steam room and ventilation. The laundry room is also ready to connect the washing machine. The underfloor heating does not work in the washroom. The entire rooms are designed in a vital and comfortable way. The sauna house can also be conveniently accessed from the garage – without stepping outside.

Technical side and innovations

The house has a modern air-to-water heat pump (maintenance carried out in January 2025), radiators, natural ventilation and local exhaust in the kitchens. The electrical system has been replaced and both floors have their own switchboard. In addition, the gutters have been replaced, the chimneys have received hats, and a new stone road has been built. The chimneys of the sauna house’s heater and fireplace were inspected in 2022, the next maintenance will not be necessary until 2027.

There is a fuel storage reservoir in the yard, which has not been used by the current owners.

The basement floor is spacious – there are heating systems, a multi-room basement and a garage, which is perfect for a workshop or hobby room.

Location

Vikerkaare Street is short, about 500 metres long, but by its nature it is truly homely and hidden in greenery. It starts from Põllu Street and heads through the heart of Nõmme to the Pääsküla bog. Just a stone’s throw away is the Pääsküla swimming pool and school, surrounded by shops, eateries, kindergartens, gyms and public transport connections. There is everything the heart desires to live here.

Disadvantages

The buildings that are an important part of the property have the following deficiencies:

  1. The buildings were fitted with a tin roof in 1995 and this fact has not been

reflected in the Register of Construction Works;

  1. the electrical system and domestic water pipes in the residential building need renovation;
  2. air-to-water heat pump, radiators as heat carriers were installed in 2012,

for which data have not been reflected in the Register of Construction Works;

  1. the furnace heating or the building’s central heating boiler has not been used for ten (10) years;
  2. In the course of the construction of the second floor carried out in 1983-1987, the staircase was enlarged,

for which data have not been reflected in the Register of Construction Works;

  1. In 1988-1989, the part of the garage has been enlarged, for which no data have been reported

in the Register of Construction Works;

  1. The location and dimensions of the economic building differ on the site plan of the property and the

of the dimensions presented on the plans

This home is like a small world of its own – there is room in the house for everyone to find their own corner and a moment of silence, but there are also places where you can enjoy moments with family and friends. It is a place where life goes peacefully, but never monotonously – morning birdsong, autumn rustling leaves, a winter sauna evening or a spring barbecue in the yard… all these moments are waiting for the arrival of the new family at Vikerkaare Street 40.
